Night Thoughts

I couldn't sleep after Lisa had left. She had said that it was 'anti-Christian' to live with someone (living in sin, as they used to call it). There were so many arguments I could have levelled against that. Dredging up my amateur psychology. One of the reasons the Catholic Church is so despised by Christian fundamentalists is that they are not permitted to 'confess' to God directly; that they require a priest - a mere man - to act as an 'intermediary' via the sacrament of confession. Why the are the other sacraments preserved? Why do two people who love each other have to use a priest as an intermediary? If they truly love each other then why can't they use their 'direct line to God', make their declarations and let that be the end of it?
