Shopaholism II

Vacated

This is the aftermath
The world is empty
It has been vacated

The Earth exhales
And a deity scatters
The stars through space
A celestial seamstress

A diamond-cutter
Coloured glass and silver buttons
Adorning no lapel.
This is all so theatrical

Fresh Blood II

The media are bombarding us with statistics and dire prophecies. They describe the long-term consequences of the so-called 'obesity crisis'. A few months ago we were bombarded by prophecies of a demographic crisis in which there will be an ambundance of elderly people and a dearth of young tax-payers to support them. And yet, one of the main objections the media voice against obesity is that sufferers of this disorder will die at a young age. When a person dies prematurely he saves the state the cost of keeping him in his dotage.

Kick Off Your Red Shoes and Fly (New Shoes)

Flickr

This is a test post from flickr, a fancy photo sharing thing.

Shred

Aftermath

Eaten up by something
That lives inside me
Encircled from without
They shine lights into my eyes
They surrender their hue
They wander through
My internal maze
Those blood soaked corridors

But the motor is still running
The heart is still beating
That crimson piece of meat
Guided by a deadly thread
Governed by a pervasive dread
Dehumanised by this shaven head
And they are all gone now
Dead, dead, dead

But I am still here
Clutching the shred
Of love, life, laughter
It is al that is left
And it is all that I have.

Fresh Blood

It would seem that we have new witches to burn. No, it’s not the so-called Chavs. Now we or rather the popular press have found fresh blood. We are now persecuting the obese and even the mildly overweight. I am half expecting groups of people with torches and pitchforks gathering in the street at midnight chanting in unison ‘Burn the corpulent ones’. A very good friend of mine: Aaron is morbidly obese and says that lately random strangers seem to feel the need to verbally abuse him in the street. One woman, described by Aaron, as bearing a remarkable resemblance to Little Britain’s Vicky Pollard.) shrilled ‘Oy, you fat bastard. You lot are costing the NHS millions.’ That was rich, coming from someone who was certainly no Kate Moss.. In fact, ironically, Aaron hardly uses the NHS. More than this Aaron receives very little help from the state – not even a half decent formal education. He has worked since he left school at sixteen and he has not, nor will he ever, claim benefits.. If, in future, he chooses to make use of these services then in my opinion he damned well deserves it! We live in hateful, superficial world in which people seem to believe that we are no more than our packaging.
